Young ESPID representative

Elisa Fernandez-Cooke


Elisa Fernandez-Cooke graduated from medical school in Santander, Spain, in 2005. Trained as a paediatrician, focusing on infectious diseases in Hospital 12 de Octubre, Spain (2006-2010). Her thesis on “Off-label antiretrovirals in paediatrics” was done at Universidad Complutense, Madrid. Clinical fellow in paediatric infectious diseases and haem-oncology in St Marys Hospital, London (2010-2012). She worked as a community paediatrician in Madrid during 2013. During 2014 she participated for 2 months in a HIV research project in Mozambique for Centro de Investigação em Saúde de Manhiça (CISM). From April 2014 to date she has been working as a consultant paediatrician in paediatric infectious diseases at Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid. She has been a Young ESPID educational committee representative since 2012. Research interests include bone and joint infections and Kawasaki disease.
