These guidelines are intended to support clinical decision-making but do not replace professional judgment. Individual patient circumstances, preferences and local practices must always be considered. The guidelines are advisory only and ESPID accepts no liability for outcomes arising from their use.
Proposals for New Guidelines
The Committee for Guidelines will consider submissions of guidelines on any topic that meet all of the following:
The committee will consider both (a) new proposals for guidelines and (b) completed (but unpublished) guidelines.
Peer review and final acceptance for endorsement by the Society and publication in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal (PIDJ) will be overseen by the Committee for Guidelines.
In recognition of the work involved in writing guidelines, the key authors will be given free registration to the ESPID Annual Meeting in the year following publication of an ESPID guideline. The lead author or representative will also be invited to present the guidelines at the Annual Meeting (with travel reimbursed).
